The Kava master and director of Heritage Kava, Sowani been planting Kava for 20+ years. Kava runs in his blood and his passion for Kava is so infectious! His father, grandfather and great grandfathers were all Kava farmers from Ovalau and nearby islands. Sowani also loves playing rugby when he is able to get free time from the rather serious Kava business! The main motivation behind starting Heritage Kava for him was to support his family and local community and keep the age old traditions alive. It was over 16 years ago when Hannah first arrived on Ovalau, and now married to Sowani, she uses her first class honours degree in Food and Consumer Management to support our Kava business. Hannah is active in the local community, a keen cook and a very busy mum.

Paul directs our US operations from his family homestead in Mississippi sprawled across 200 acres. His journey into kava started with a fishing trip on the Nile in northern Uganda about six years ago. A close friend, a family member of Sowani and Hannah, was talking about how they were trying to start a Kava export business. Having worked as an expat for many years and with plans to return to the US soon, Paul fell in love with kava and was decided to join in the venture.  Paul's routine typically consists of ending the day with some kava while taking the family dogs on a run around the farm. Paul is a self-proclaimed scotch aficionado with an envious collection in his bar. After finding kava however, the scotch collection has almost disappeared. He claims to still enjoy a nice single malt and sometimes a nice wine, but kava has now become an integral part of his life.

Kalo is a dedicated member of our team, she has worked with us for 4 years, if she's not straining our wonderfully fine ground Kava, she is nurturing our baby Kava plants. Her favourite past time is catching fresh water prawns from our fast flowing wonderfully crystal clear local river, which are then devoured by our little daughterand is a big advocate for Heritage Kava and the work we do in supporting the community. He is an integral part of our team. Sakara  loves drinking kava to unwind after a hard day's of work.
